When heading on an ATV Trip, there are a few things that your group should always carry. We carry the factory tool kit, a CO2 tire repair kit, flashlight and a cellphone. More than once, our stock tool kit has left us short on a tool we needed to get a stranded ATV off the trail. This is where CruzTools comes into play with there EconoKit M1.
The M1 is a ATV / Motorcycle tool kit used by many off road racers and teams from GNCC to the Rugged Baja and SCORE Series Races. I have heard nothing but 100% positive on this kit so I knew this was what I was lacking heading out to UTAH on my last trip.
When I recieved my M1 I noticed right away that these werent cheap tools and even the case is well made. The kit had some weight to it and folds in half to save space. Upon opening the M1 I was amazed to see actually how much you get for your money and how much fits into this zippered
pouch. They even include zip ties!
The M1 kit consists of an 8, 10, 12 and 14mm Combination wrenchs, an 8" adjustable wrench, a 6-in-1 Screwdriver, a Spark Plug gapper, 2-in-1 Spark Plug Wrench, Locking Pliers, Aluminum LED Flashlight, Electrical Tape, Zip Ties, Wire, WD-40, Tire Guage, Shop Rag and Hex Sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6mm. All these in a neat organized ouch that weighs only 2.5lbs!
I didnt have to add anything to this kit in order to work or repair quads on the trail. They covered all the bases. I was impressed with the rag and WD-40 they provided. These are just 2 extra things that you dont want to carry but wish you had when doing a trailside repair.
I did get to use this Kit twice while in Utah. The stock skidplate on my LTR450 kept loosening up throughout the last days of riding. I unstrapped my Wolf Pak (see review in a week or so) unzipped my M1 kit and located the Hex that I needed to tighten the skid. It was a total of 4 mintes in order to be ready to roll again. The hexs were of good quality and not those cheap stock throw aways. They fit great and didnt strip.
The second time I used my M1 I was checking the Quads for fuel while at Coral Pink Sand Dunes far from the parking area on some slickrock. The LED flashlight is extremely bright and can give tons of light to do repairs if needed in the full darkness of night.
In closing I recommend getting the M1 from Cruztools and possibly combining it with a tire repair kit for an unstoppable combo. If you have a utility quad these will easily fit in the storage areas provided on your quad. For the sport guys, depending on how far you are traveling I recommend upgrading to the Cruztools DMX1 fanny kit which also includes sockets or if your going to be traveling for overnight or just need more storage I'd suggest looking into a Wolf Pak and stocking it with the Econokit M1. Either way you can't go wrong with CruzTools Products. These kits
are great and truly made with the quad / bike in mind.
